Come out and playeeay!

Another message to "master." Sounds like the gears are turning in the playground underworld. Also, it sounds eerily similar to the plot of "the Warriors."

The Carved Stick Disappeared

Nothing much, but I am intrigued. Who carved the stick? Was it one of those walking sticks that old hippies like with a tree spirit holding a piece of quartz?

Parents see all the polished and supervised artwork that students complete, but this is what the other 98% of their artwork looks like.
This one speaks for itself.

When comes to rap

Saw a student writing this and asked him about it. Wanted to test the waters to see if lyric writing was something I might use as a project. It was kinda like when you touch a newborn hamster and the mother eats it. As soon as he noticed I was interested it ended up in the recycle bin.

Hi master

If I am going to get to the top dog of this organization, I am going to have to stop intercepting these mid-level communiques. I might have to go into deep cover. Over and out.

Fortune Teller 2

I should have let her work on this a little longer, but I was trying to teach a science lesson. C'mon! Science!

Fortune Tellers

These things turn up all over the place. The old "choose a color, choose a number" fortune teller finger flipper. I'll keep adding them as I find them.

I can't tell if "you will marry a boy" is supposed to be a good fortune or a bad fortune.

I Did My Time

I know my class is boring, but c'mon!

Meatle

This picture turned up in the hall outside my room. Is "meatle" a material made from "Dead animal?"

Toby Love

Found this while I was still a sub. Someone needs to turn this into a power-pop love ballad. Maybe that someone is me.

Another portrait

Another first-grader handed this to me. "Tell me about this picture," I asked. "It's you," he informed me.
Ah, yes. The do-rag and earrings are a dead giveaway.

Ms Harmmis

This was given to me by one of the students in the first-grade classroom I was covering. I was reading them "Pippi Longstocking," which is hilarious.

Player King

This one's a little more subtle. Look for an awesome Freudian slip in the lower right corner.

webkinz

If you are not aware of the webkinz phenomenon, you should be. This is a drawing that a student made for me that reminds me of the pervasiveness of this insidious campaign. Not exactly "found" at school, but from school none the less.

Your Guess is as Good as Mine

I'd be surprised too.

Side Two

This was on the backside of the the one with the question mark.

the Squid and the Whale

Found this one while I was student teaching. Used it on the cover of my album.

My cover is blown

I've only been in town a few months and the truth is finally out.
Found this on the floor of one of my classrooms:

I don't know how they found out, but it doesn't matter.
Time to disappear.

Fill in the Blanks

Found this series of post-its on the floor of my classroom after school today.
Now that you know the characters and themes of this epic adventure YOU FILL IN THE REST!
First prize is the original artwork and a bonus prize.
There is no second prize.

Secret Plans Revealed!

A few days ago I was shocked to discover what appears to be an al Qaeda artist's interpretation of possible attack plans on 9/11. In all truthfulness, I can see why they decided to scrap these three approaches.
  • Space Shuttle? Too rickety.
  • Jupiter? Too gassy.
  • Volcano? Too geology.
Wait... actually it's just a math textbook from my school... a simple mistake anyone could make.

Memories

Found this by the dumpster out back. Don't know if it counts.

'89 sure was a good year. Except for the staff Christmas party when principal Dandridge put the moves on Mrs. Hooper in front of Coach Clayton. "Tweeeeet! 2 minute penalty for body checking!"

"Note to self"

Cute puppies.

"Well talk 2u later."

This came from a school where I subbed for just one day. I wonder what they were supposed 2 do 2day. I'm 2 shy 2 ask.

L8r.

"Don't be sad always."

Found this at school last year. It's from an ELL student and is one of the sweetest notes I've ever come across.
