"Timothy, would you mind reading us the answer to number one?"

To the Curriculum Writers,

Have you ever met a fifth grader?

Sincerely,

Mr. H

Monday Morning

Me: "Is your eye okay? It looks swollen."

Student: "My mom's friend's dog kicked me in the eye. It hurts."

Me: (Thinking back to emergency protocol for this type of situation) "Go splash some water on it."

A Bet

One left over from last year. Let 2010-11 begin!!!

I am just wondering how he was planning on "baking out." If that's what the kids are calling "stoning up" these days, they are going to have to get up pretty early to do it during Mr. H's class!

A Tribute to Socco

Some amazing work by one student who we'll call Socco for the moment.
He usually rips anything he finishes to shreds, so we're lucky to have work that is only badly crumpled instead.

LIZARD!

Colonial map!

Sock Monkey Poacher

Guns, guns, guns (flamer).

Map
I like his version better.

That One's Going in the Scrapbook

Test Results

They don't exactly count as found, but these where kinda charming.

This is another note requesting a move away from certain individuals. Fairly unremarkable.
But on the back, I see the doodling of a creative genius. I'll have to break the news to her. I tried it and it doesn't work.

More gems from the desk clean out

What I Said:

Ntbk = notebook
All out War:
Congress of Normality:

You are super loud with breathing!

Another classic from the '09 desk clean out.

Wrist Rocket

We did a big desk clean out the other day and some amazing stuff ended up in the trash.
I found this and have a pretty good idea what it was intended for.

Green Gun

Like I said, pretty boring week.

Dong

This is one of the rough illustrations for a story about the "Dong People." All I want to know is: of all the different "-ong" people, why does only one have a drawing next to it? And why is it glowing?

aheeha!

Pretty boring week at school. This is the best I could do.

Today was a good day

This one was pretty beat up when we found it, but the boys in the lab worked their magic and I believe we have a pretty accurate reconstruction.

Deception/Treachery

One of the authors of this note has a real knack for writing comedy. We were giving presentations about different sections of the library and he got a section with books on legends and folk tales including Bigfoot. He said:
"come visit my section of the shelves and read about Bigfoot. If you don't, Bigfoot will get lonely, and when Bigfoot gets lonely he needs comfort food. One problem: the comfort food is you."

Come out and playeeay!

Another message to "master." Sounds like the gears are turning in the playground underworld. Also, it sounds eerily similar to the plot of "the Warriors."

The Carved Stick Disappeared

Nothing much, but I am intrigued. Who carved the stick? Was it one of those walking sticks that old hippies like with a tree spirit holding a piece of quartz?

Parents see all the polished and supervised artwork that students complete, but this is what the other 98% of their artwork looks like.
